Local community

Many people meet Talamh Housing Co-op members through local work that the Charity is active in.

Members helped set up a Wildlife Garden at Coalburn Primary School, and school children have come to Birkhill house for regular Tree Planting and Tree Care Weeks. Many thousands of trees have been planted in the last decade.

Recent projects by the Charity include Open Days, The Festival of Environmental Science and Art ("Green Futures Festival"), Loudon Pond Nature Reserve in Douglas Water, Sustrans Milepost, maintenance of Arthurs Crag (an old plum orchard in the Clyde Valley) and networking with other local groups.

Talamh regularly enters into the Coalburn Gala Day held every July. We have even been known to win the occasional prize!

We are always open to approaches from the local communities on making use of our resources. Local people have used the office and workshop facilities, as well as holding outside events here.
