Improving Rural Transport

The Rural Development Trust was set up to identify and provide solutions to rural transport needs.  It is a not-for-profit enterprise with charitable status that combines commercial expertise with public sector contract income.  This has created a sustainable business that is delivering efficient community services. 

The Community Bus Scheme improves access to transport for community groups and not-for-profit organisatons.  It improves accessibility for rurally-based groups, particularly those supporting the younger and older age groups.  The Trust has also investigated the use of renewable resources.
