The 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes took place on Sunday 23rd November in Carluke Welfare Hall.

Carluke Primrose continues to make history as they win the SAFBA Scottish Championship for the 12th consecutive year.  This brings the 2008 contest year to a fantastic close - after also winning the SAFBA Spring Contest and coming second in the World Championships.

Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes played a concert to raise funds for the Guild of St. Andrew's Church in Carluke.  The very successful event took place on Friday 31st October in the Church. 

We'd like to thank all those who came along and also to the Guild for their kind invitation and we hope to be back again soon.

Right in the middle of a weekend full of travel misery with lengthy ferry delays and road closures, came a fantastic performance from Carluke Primrose and therefore a great result in the NIBA World Championship Contest on Saturday 25th October.

Carluke Primrose celebrated their 70th Anniversary with a bang on Saturday 22nd September by holding a Dinner Dance at the Bentley Hotel in Motherwell.

A great night was enjoyed by all - which included dinner, a ceilidh and disco.

Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes ran a successful fundraising Prize Bingo Night in Carluke Masonic Hall on Tuesday 2nd September.

The flutes would like to offer their thanks to all those who came along for the chance to win to some great prizes! Thanks also to all those who helped out on the night and also to those from Carluke Masonic Hall, who all made the evening run smoothly.

For the second year in a row "Music on the Lawn" had to unfortunately be moved indoors as the spell of good weather was interrupted for one day! This is an event that the Primrose have been involved with for a number years at Capability Scotland's Stanmore House School in Lanark and was held on Saturday 17th May.

Victory for the Primrose was secured at this year's SAFBA Annual Spring Contest. The event - run by the Scottish Amateur Flute Band Association - was held once again in Troon Concert Hall on Saturday 3rd May and featured competitors from across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.

Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes held their 28th Annual Concert in Kirkton Church, Carluke on Saturday 29 March 2008.

Opening with the famous "Radetzky March", the orchestra set the tone for the evening, which included a mix of film themes, light classical and new pieces which have never been performed in public.  Conductor John Bryce also got in on the act and performed...

Carluke Primrose played a concert on the evening of Friday 28th March in Clyde Valley High School.  Arranged by the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw, it also featured performances from local Scottish Folk Trio "Haggerdash".

Well over £2000 was raised for Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes by a Race Night and Disco held in Carnwath Town Hall on Saturday 17th November.

Organised by Jacqui and Robert Kerr, the total towards the end of the night sat at £2093 but with extra monies still to be counted, it is likely that the final total will be closer to £2500.

Saturday 10th November was another historic contest day for Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes as we have now won the SAFBA Scottish Championship Contest for the eleventh year in a row. Held in the Community Central Hall in Maryhill, the Primrose had what it takes to take a clean sweep of trophies again this year.

Carluke Primrose played an intimate village gig in Carnwath Hall on Sunday 30th September.

Organised by CPOF fundraising hero Jacqui Kerr, the concert made a much-needed £300 towards our funds.

Carluke Primrose took part in the Irvine Marymass Festival on Saturday 25th August. Although it was a damp, dreich day and we had a small ensemble due to member's work commitments, we're sure everyone had a great day!

This was the last outdoor event for the Summer season.

Carluke Primrose gave a hand in kicking off Edinburgh's Festival season with a bang on Sunday 5th August, by taking part in the 2007 Scottish Sun Edinburgh Festivals' Cavalcade.

The event marked the start of one of the festivals - the Fringe - where more than 2,000 shows take place in 250 venues across the city.

Carluke & District, Forth and Carnwath Gala Days all took place on the Saturdays the 9th, 16th and 30th of July 2007.  Poor-ish weather at Forth and Carnwath in no way spoiled the great days enjoyed by all.

Carluke Primrose give their thanks to the Gala Committees involved once again this year.

Carluke Primrose played at Lanark Lanimers once again this year on Thursday 7th June.

It's been on the go since about 1140, making it one of Scotland's oldest traditions.

A fantastic day weather-wise also went towards this year being a very Happy Lanimers indeed!

Carluke Primrose have now been Scotland's top flute orchestra for the 10th year in a row, by winning the SAFBA Scottish Championship for the 10th year running. It was held on Saturday 25th November in Bellshill Academy.

In order to comply with the 2005 constitution the following were elected as committee members:

Carluke Primrose joined forces with the Boys' Brigade, members of the Royal British Legion of Scotland, the Army Cadets along with members of the public in the act of remembering our War Heroes. 

A two-minute silence was held at the Cenotaph in Forth along with a small act of worship followed by the Rememberance Service at Forth St. Pauls Parish Church.

Once again this year Carluke Primrose played at the Marymass Festival in Irvine.    It was a case of "four seasons in one day" for the last outdoor event until Rememberance Sunday.  Visit the Marymass website for more information on the festival.  Best wishes to Queen Kate for the coming year.
